Tangle Teezer The Wet Detangler Hairbrush - Silver Glitter/ Lilac
Welcome
back to my blog. I hope you all are doing well.
This week
I’ll be reviewing a very popular product in the hair world. Many people swear
by it and many can’t live without it, it’s the Tangle Teezer.
The Wet
Detangler Hairbrush in the Silver Glitter/ Lilac style to be exact.
Shaun is
the founder and inventor of Tangle Teezer. In 2003, after working for thirty
years as a colourist in top salons, he felt the need for a quick and easy
hairbrush that could detangle hair without tugging and pulling. Eventually, in
2007, the original detangling hairbrush was launched. As of now, there are
different hairbrushes for different purposes such as detangling, blow-drying,
styling etc.
The
original Tangle Teezer (TT) hairbrush is quite
compact and shaped like a bean. This is what makes it
purse-friendly. Over the years, they have produced several different types of
hair brushes and tools. They even manufactured a mini
version of the original compact hairbrush.
Their
unique selling point is the fact that their brushes detangle hair without any tugging
or pulling. Thus, eliminating the pain. This is possible due to their patented
two-tiered teeth technology, wherein the long teeth detangle the hair and the shorter
ones smooth the hair cuticle leaving one’s hair frizz-free. You can learn more
about them here.
Before we
move on to the review, I need to say that my hair is naturally curly. This is
important to share as the brush you choose would depend on your needs and
preferences.
I didn’t
opt for the original detangling brush because I don’t detangle my hair when
it’s dry.
NEVER.
BRUSH. DRY. CURLY. HAIR.
It’s a
method for disaster. Brushing curly hair while it’s dry makes it super frizzy
and ruins curl definition. You can watch it here.
You
always want to either comb your hair (with a wide-toothed comb) or use a
detangling hairbrush while your hair is wet, in the shower, preferably with
some conditioner. This ensures that there are no knots and that you get maximum
curl definition.
The
Review,
Tangle
Teezer The Wet Detangler Hairbrush - Silver Glitter/Lilac
MRP - ₹1300/-
(I got it for ₹1105/-)
The brush
is lightweight and quite sturdy. It’s a decent size and the handle fits
perfectly in the palms of my hands. I got the wet detangler brush which is
supposed to be used in the shower on wet hair and I must say that the brush
lives up to its expectations. It detangled my hair without any tugging or
pulling. The entire experience was pain-free.
At first,
I thought that the brush wasn’t doing anything because I couldn’t feel it going
through my hair. I imagined, perhaps, that the bristles were too flexible to
get through my hair. However, after a few strokes I could feel the brush
gliding across my scalp with absolutely no knots. It does what it claims and
does it well. Although, the price of this product could be considered a
limitation.
Another point
to consider is the cleaning of the brush. I can’t use a regular toothbrush to
clean it as the bristles are too short to get inside the hairbrush. So, I use a
brush with longer bristles, something similar to a brush you would use to clean
clothes.
I did buy
it to try it but I’m not sure whether I’ll repurchase it or not. I got it in
December of last year and so far, it’s going pretty strong. I don’t think a
product like this should need frequent replacing.
Overall, I’m
happy with my purchase.
Do you
need this brush? Probably not.
