Sam and Nic are no longer with RT
Welcome back to my blog. I hope you all are doing well.
I apologize for not posting last week. Motivation to do anything during present times is absolutely nil. Nonetheless, I'm back and I have a news/ story related piece this time.
As you can see from the title, Sam and Nic have ended their partnership with Real Techniques after nine years. This isn’t just the end of a collaboration, both sisters will stop being social media influencers altogether.
Samantha Chapman (Sam) and Nicola Chapman Haste (Nic) are professional makeup artists who were working with Real Techniques (RT) to develop professional yet affordable makeup brushes and tools.
I'm heartbroken about their decision to leave social media as I look up to them and immensely adore them. Everything that I have learnt about makeup is through their YouTube channel and videos. I bought RT brushes exclusively because of them (no regrets) and I even have their book 'Face by Pixiwoo' (Kindle edition). Of course, I understand and respect their decision. It's still sad.
Side note - I will be trying brushes and tools from other brands now. I have enough stuff from RT. It's a decent brand but I purchased from them to support Pixiwoo. I don't feel obligated to do so anymore.
It occurred to me that not all of you will know what I'm talking about. So, let me properly introduce the dynamic duo,
Samantha Chapman is a professional makeup artist and a former social media influencer. Sam enrolled in a two-year BTEC course in media makeup. She soon moved to London to assist her aunt, Maggie, who is a successful makeup artist. She worked at M.A.C Pro Store in Carnaby Street and later joined their Pro Team. She travelled and worked at various fashion weeks creating high fashion looks while assisting top makeup artists such as Val Garland, Charlotte Tilbury, Sharon Dowsett and Tom Pecheux. She worked as a freelance make-up artist, taught at a makeup school and worked part time at Chanel. In October 2008, Sam started a YouTube channel (Pixiwoo, later Sam and Nic Chapman) where both the sisters would post hair and makeup tutorials ranging from Avant Garde to more natural looks. She is a mother of two and lives in Norwich, England.
Nicola Chapman Haste is a professional makeup artist and a former social media influencer. She studied a BTEC National Diploma at college following which she assisted her aunt, Maggie. She also gained valuable work experience at Nicky Clarke and Jo Hansford (premium hairdressers) in London. Focusing more on makeup she later worked at Estee Lauder, M.A.C, M.A.C Pro Store and Illamasqua. Nic is married and a mother of two. In 2008, when Sam started her channel, she invited Nic to join her. Nicola was onboard and from then on, the sisters went on to make fun and informative videos for over a decade.
Sam-Nic and Real Techniques
With the growing success and popularity of the Pixiwoo channel, Sam and Nic got approached by Real Techniques. In 2010, Sam initially joined as an Artistic Consultant while Nic worked more behind-the-scenes. In 2013, when Nic could devote more energy to the brand, they both became joint Artistic Consultants. In the following years RT became a very popular brand in the UK.
Present Scenario
On December 17, 2020, Sam and Nic took to their Instagram accounts to break some important news. Sam talked about not working on social media anymore. According to her, 2020 made her realize that she wants to take a different route for her future and social media just won’t fit. She will keep her Instagram account for the time being (@samchapman) but might stop using eventually as she wants to curb her phone addiction. She might upload some personal posts but nothing work-related. Lastly, she thanked everyone for the wonderful life experiences she’s had.
Nic on her post expressed some mutual feelings. She explained how she’s changed over the last ten years. When she started social media years ago, she wasn’t married or had kids. Makeup and beauty were her life back then but that’s not the case now. She'll keep posting on Instagram (@nicolachapman) but nothing work-related. She will continue to document her MS (Multiple Sclerosis) journey as well.
Their YouTube channel ‘Sam and Nic Chapman’ doesn’t exist anymore.
Overall, this was quite an overwhelming post to write. To me, this is the end of an era. I wish the best to both of them and hope they achieve success in their future endeavors.

Change is the only constant thing in life, thanks for introducing them and for the update. Regarding the format, I prefer the earlier one because it's confusing if all the links are together.
